Birch

White birches are not well adapted to Missouri. Consequently, they seldom survive more than a few years. River birch is very reliable and relatively problem free.

Anthracnose (fungus)

Small, irregular to circular brown spots with dark margins.

Remove and destroy fallen leaves. If serious, use thiophanate-methyl. Make first application at bud break and the second 10 to 14 days later. Under wet conditions, apply a third spray 10 to 14 days later.

Twig blight (fungi)

Small branches and twigs are killed.
