Buckeye or horsechestnuts
Guignardia blotch (fungus)
Common. More serious in wet years. Brown to reddish-brown blotches appear on
the leaf margins. May cause early defoliation. However, these plants lose their
leaves early even when not diseased. Resembles leaf scorch, to which these plants
also may be prone. Usually, does not seriously affect tree vigor.
Remove fallen leaves. Chlorathalonil, mancozeb and maneb may be used at 7-
to 14-day intervals during wet spring weather. Lime sulfur may be used as a dormant
spray.
